Clemson Fans and Local Community Rally Around Braintree Boy

12-year-old Jake Parker never though he’d see his team in the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

Parker is a die-hard Clemson fan, he has all the collectibles, from team books to jerseys. So, when he found out the team was going to the ‘ship, he was very excited. He never though he’d get a chance to go to the game, though.

Jake hasn’t had the easiest childhood. He suffers from muscular dystrophy – he used to walk, but now uses a powered wheelchair.

“We really wanted to try to take Jake to the game. I mean, we try to grant most of his wishes of things that he wants to do,” said Giles Parker, Jake’s father.

As word began to get around, a friend suggested starting a GoFundMe campaign. Within a week, there was enough money from the local community and the Clemson fan base to send the whole Parker family to the game.
