Boston Tops List Of Best Summer Vacation Destinations in US

Looking for the best spot possible to spend that summer vacation? According to US News & World Report – you’re already there, Bostonians.

The magazine has ranked Boston as the best summer vacation destination in the United States. Boston also ranked third in the world among cities across the globe, behind Paris and Florence.

The magazine gave the following reasons for Boston’s first place finish:

“Fenway Park welcomes baseball lovers, the Freedom Trail invites history buffs to a scavenger hunt of historic sites and Little Italy [we’ll let this slide] and Faneuil Hall Marketplace beckon to foodies. Visitors can also check out numerous breweries or plan their vacation around one of several festivals held over the summer.”

Rankings for both lists is based on an analysis of expert and user opinions, which US News & World Report believes to be a more useful, unbiased approach.

“These extraordinarily high marks and top rankings didn’t happen by accident,” Patrick Moscaritolo, CEO or the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau said. “This is the result of years of effort by Mayor Walsh, city agencies, the Bureau and our members to position Boston across the globe as a unique, cross-cultural, and exciting destination for visitors.”

Rounding out the top five for US destinations are Seaside, OR, Steamboat Springs, CO, Nashville, TN and Portland, OR.
