Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has some serious muscle in action flick Pompeii.
Adewale plays Atticus, an African gladiator who needs one more victory in the Roman arena to obtain his freedom.
And to get in to character for the role, Adewale took some serious measures.
“I went to what we call Gladiator Boot Camp,” the actor tells On Air with Ryan Seacrest. “Four hours of working out a day for six days a week for four weeks prior to the movie.”
Adewale’s grueling workout included “two hours of fight training, an hour of weight training, an hour with cardio coupled with an 1,800-calorie diet to keep our muscles bulked up and basically cut down the body.”
Catch Pompeii out in theaters now.
