Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand is speaking out after a Twitter user attacked him with a homophobic slur.
Marchand says the Tweet, which was posted a few days ago, compelled him to respond publicly. He told the media he was particularly troubled by the message because he has friends in same-sex relationships.
Before Saturday's home game, Marchand told the media “Nowadays, it’s not right to go after people that way, so I figured I’d get it out there.”
It appears that the Twitter user whom Marchand addressed has since deleted their account.
