Valedictorian Reveals He’s Homeless in Graduation Speech

“Giving up is never an option… Everyone thinks I try to make good grades because I’m smart. Not true. I perform the way I do in the classroom because I have everything to lose.”

Griffin Furlong’s valedictorian speech is one that his classmates are likely to never forget.

The speech itself started much like any other graduation speech, but shortly took a much more remarkable turn when he revealed to the crowd that he had been homeless for 12 years.

“Giving up is never an option… Everyone thinks I try to make good grades because I’m smart. Not true. I perform the way I do in the classroom because I have everything to lose,” Furlong said.
