Tropical Storm Warnings in Effect for New England as Jose Approaches

Jose is approaching New England as a category 1 hurricane, prompting tropical storm warnings for areas of the Atlantic coast, including southern New England.

Jose was 265 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras Monday morning, moving at 9 miles per hour with sustained winds of 75 miles per hour.

A tropical storm warning has been issued from Watch Hill, Rhode Island to Hull, Massachusetts, including Block Island, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. The warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected to hit the area within 36 hours.

A high surf advisory was also issued for some areas on Monday.
