WATCH: Bourne Police Search For Lobster Trap Tip Thief

BOURNE (WBZ-AM) -- Bourne Police are searching for a woman they say stole from the tip jar at the Lobster Trap Restaurant on Monday.

Police said employees at the restaurant noticed money missing, and reviewed surveillance footage to find that a woman stole from the jar around 5:50 p.m.

In a post on their Facebook page, the department posted the surveillance video which appears to show the woman, who was older and wearing glasses stealing bills from the tip jar on the restaurant's front counter.

Lainie Hatch, who works at the restaurant, told WBZ-TV that the woman was pulling from the jar even as employees worked by.

"But I didn't even think twice as I was walking by," she said.

Now, authorities are hoping "dedicated Facebook Gumshoes" can help them identify her.

"Pay careful attention to her mannerisms, clothing, and eye glasses," Bourne Police wrote.

Workers say they recognize the thief as the same woman who took cash from another tip jar a few months back, and believe she is a local woman.

They said she got about $20, which was quickly replenished by coworkers and customers.

Anyone with information about the woman's identity is asked to contact the Bourne PD detective unit at 508-759-4420 EXT 212.
