BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Last night's NBA Draft came and went, and the Celtics kept their 27th pick. Robert Williams is 6'-10 with a 7 ft. 6 in. wingspan. He's an elite defender and shot-blocker, though he can't shoot particularly well--and he slid from a potential lottery position because of character and work ethic concerns. But, C's president of basketball operations Danny Ainge feels good about his new big.

"You never know everything about everyone, obviously, but we're comfortable with who he is," Ainge said. "A lot of the people that we've talked to--his coaches, his teammates, his trainers--we've talked to a lot of people who are familiar with him, and everybody likes Robert."

"I know that he's not perfect, but most players aren't, and we think he's got a great upside," he continued. "We're very excited to have him. I'm not trying to defend our reason for drafting him, but we find that he's gonna be a good player, we like what we found on his background checks."

Plus, entering a strong culture with veteran leadership should help.
