For 42 years, Bruins fans have witnessed Rene Rancourt sing the National Anthem before each home game. This upcoming season, there will be a new voice on the mic.
Rancourt retired from anthem duties last season at the age of 78, giving his signature triple-fist pump one final time on April 25, 2018.
"With the retirement of Garden legend, Rene Rancourt, we are looking for a multitude of talented singers to perform the National Anthem during the 2018-19 season," write the Boston Bruins.
Hopeful fans are required to submit a video or a link to a performance no later than August 1st at 5:00 PM.
“Select performers will be invited to audition live at TD Garden on August 8 starting at 5:30 p.m,” the team added. “Due to strict time restrictions, candidates are required to sing the anthem in 90 seconds or less. Applicants will be judged on vocal quality, stage presence and level of comfort.”
