NWS: Straight-Line Winds Not Tornado Caused Damage In Saugus

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- The National Service  say that straight line winds and not a tornado caused severe tree-damage in a Saugus neighborhood Tuesday.

The National Weather Service had sent a team of meterologist to survey the damage in the Riverside Park and Riverside Court neighborhood after after intense weather left from Tropical Storm Florence passed through the area.

The storm prompted several severe weather watches and warnings including a tornado warning.

A few social media posts from the area showed photos of trees uprooted.

The National Weather Service tells WBZ NewsRadio that their team are still working on determining what the wind speeds were.

WBZ NewsRadio1030's Shari Small reports.
