BOSTON, Mass (WBZ-AM) — Police say a teenage girl who was shot outside the Jackson Square MBTA Station in Jamaica Plain on Tuesday afternoon is expected to survive.

Police responded to the area outside the T station around 3:11 PM where they found the victim and took her to a local hospital with serious injuries.

At the same, they were investigating a car crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of Columbus Ave and Center Street just a short distance from the T stop.

The people in that crash remained on the scene and both cars had to be towed away.

It is unclear whether or not if the cars had anything to do with the shooting or they were trying to get away from the commotion of the area.

Police had closed the intersection of Columbus Ave and Centre Street but it was reopened shortly before 6:00PM

WBZ NewsRadio's Mike Macklin reports.
