A few years ago, G-Eazy scored the opportunity of a lifetime: a tour with his dream collaborator, Drake. Unfortunately, G-Eazy had to leave the tour early because of a promise he made to his grandmother.
"I was in college. It was really a promise I made to my grandmother that I would finish out school."
"When my parents split, I lived in my grandma's house.... She was like a parent to me. I was very, very, very close with her," G-Eazy explains. "That was my promise I would keep."
"The damn teacher was an a------. He said, 'Gerald, I'm at my tolerance. If you miss another class, then I'm failing you,' and I had to keep up GPA for my scholarship."
"I knew if I failed that class, it would dip my whole GPA and the whole thing was over."
But G-Eazy's not too disappointed about the missed opportunity.
"I just knew, this wouldn't be my only chance. I'd meet Drake again somewhere along the line."
