BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- A two-car crash on I-95 north in Sharon took the life of a 73-year-old woman and her dog Sunday, according to State Police.

The woman from Rockport, driving a Jaguar sedan, and a 79-year-old woman from Brewster, in a Volkswagen, were traveling northbound on the interstate when their cars collided just north of Exit 8. The collision sent the Rockport woman's sedan spinning off the highway, traveling down the embankment and striking a tree. The driver and her dog were both pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident. No other information is available at this time.
