Disney Fans Are Terrified Of The Lion King's Live-Action Pumbaa

Are you excited for the live-action adaptation of The Lion King? Ahead of the film's July premiere, Disney released the first movie posters showcasing all the major characters. Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen, the dynamic duo behind beloved characters Timon and Pumbaa, shared their character posters on Twitter. The reaction to each of their posts, however, was drastically different.

While many fans found Eichner's photo-realistic meerkat quite adorable, the response to the photo-realistic warthog was less enthusiastic. Many fans of the original animated classic found this version of Pumbaa, the warmhearted warthog, to be kind of scary. Here's Pumbaa's new look:

Shortly after Rogen shared the promo image, though, fans started calling his character poster "terrifying."

Others, though, defended the photo-realistic version of Pumbaa after the backlash started.

The upcoming films trailer gives fans a sneak peak of what Pumbaa will look like in action, as well. What do you think about Pumbaa's new look? Is it terrifying or simply true to life?

The Lion King opens in theaters on July 19.
