Mikey V catches up with Ellie Goulding moments after she hops off stage at our Kiss Concert 2019.
Ellie opens up about her long road to stardom.
"I think people forget that there were years of shows where people didn't know my songs and people didn't know who I was. You have to get through those shows first. That's tough."
"I supported Bruno Mars years ago," Ellie recalls, "and nobody knew who I was. I think 'Burn' was just about to come out. I'd sing every night and be like, 'Thanks so much.' But everyone was like, 'Get off.'"
But here, in Boston, at the Kiss Concert 2019, with a crowd of fans singing along to her songs? "It's really nice. It's really beautiful for that to have evolved. People know my songs."
"I've got a new song coming out in two weeks," Ellie teases.
"It's kind of tongue and cheek, because it's not something that I've really sang about before. I always like to sing positive songs and hopeful songs, but this one is just... its a really eff you song. And I don't usually do that, but I thought it's about time for a bit of a tongue and cheek moment. I think we all need that song."
