Dina Lohan and her ex-boyfriend, Jesse Nadler, dated for five years without meeting or even speaking via FaceTime. It seemed like the perfect celebrity installation of MTV’s hit show, Catfish, but host Nev Schulman revealed that the episode didn’t come together for many reasons.
"We got very close, we were talking to her team and working out the logistics of bringing her to meet this guy that she was talking to and was in love with," the 34-year-old star recalled in a new interview with ET. "But for a number of reasons it didn't happen." When the news of Lohan's mysterious Internet relationship broke in February, the media hit the story hard and Schulman showed immediate interest. "YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME," he tweeted in response to a New York Post article on the gossip topic, adding, "Let's do this!"
Despite not being able to pull together the episode in time for Season 5, which airs on Wednesday night, the TV personality said that he’s working on a way to share Lohan’s story with the world. “Not necessarily for an episode of Catfish, but because there's a lot more to it than just Dina, and I think it's an important story that needs to be told," he continued. "So I think I'm going to write an article, or some sort of piece about that whole situation and hopefully you'll see that soon."
In the meantime, Schulman is hoping that upcoming episodes of the MTV series include a few friendly faces like Ariana Grande and Drake as his co-hosts. "They're both big fans of the show and have expressed interest in co-hosting with me," Schulman confessed. "So, fingers crossed, hopefully that happens."
