DORCHESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It’s the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 rocket launch, and space fans flocked to the JFK Library to “choose to go to the moon”—on their phones.
Participants had the opportunity to witness a recreation of the historic event through an augmented reality on the JFK Moonshot phone app.
Here's an example of how that looked:
Beyond the countdown, the app allows users to track the Apollo 11’s five-day pilgrimage from the Earth to the Moon with over a hundred hours of real-time simulation.
Later this week, the library will host a series of events, speakers, and activities for its Space Fest 2019 event.
