Ron Leibman, the beloved actor of Whereâs Poppa and Angels in America fame, has died. He was 82.
The Emmy Award-winning actor passed away on Friday (December 6) of pneumonia in New York City, two family reps told The Hollywood Reporter.
In his lifetime, the native New Yorker starred in a bevy of television, stage, and film productions including several widely-acclaimed performances in projects such as Angels in America: Millennium Approaches, Slaughterhouse Five, Norma Rae, and a bounty of others. Fans of Leibmanâs work may also recall the starâs portrayal as a car thief in CBSâ Kaz, for which he won the Lead Actor Emmy in 1979, as well as the short-tempered dad, Dr. Leonard Green, of Jennifer Anistonâs Rachel Green on Friends.
âWe at Abrams Artists Agency are saddened to hear the news of Ronâs passing,â Abrams Artists Agency CEO Robert Attermann expressed in a statement in light of Leibman's death. âRon was an incredibly talented actor with a distinguished career in film, TV and theatre. Our thoughts go out to his wife, Jessica, and his family.â
Leibman is survived by his wife, Arrested Development actress Jessica Walter, and their stepdaughter, TV programming exec Brooke Bowman.
