NORWOOD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Most snow blowers have a label that says to never put your hand inside the chute as rotating parts can amputate fingers and hands. But, that hasn’t been stopping some people from doing so.

Sharon Fire Capt. John McLean said they get a call about a snow blower accident every storm, especially when it involves heavy and wet snow.
In one case, Captain McLean said a man got hurt sticking his hand inside even though he had turned the machine off.
“There was still just that much tension left in the machine, it grabbed his fingers and didn’t let go,” McLean said.
But why do people keep doing it despite the warnings? McLean said that most of his job “is that momentary lapse in concentration.”
