An IHOP server in Illinois had a very happy start to the new year, thanks to the generosity of Donnie Wahlberg. The New Kid and “Blue Bloods” actor gave a $2,020 tip to the server on a $78.46 bill.
Wahlberg’s wife, actress Jenny McCarthy, Tweeted out a picture of the receipt with the caption “@DonnieWahlberg starting 2020 off like the amazing man he is. #ihop #2020tipchallenge.”
Wahlberg’s generosity wasn’t the first instance of the 2020 Tip Challenge going public. On December 30, 2019, 31-year-old single mother Danielle Franzoni, a waitress in Michigan, also received a $2,020 tip. This time, on a $23 bill.
Franzoni said she was living in a homeless shelter just a year earlier, according to CBS News.
