RuPaul's DragCon LA Canceled As Coronavirus Concerns Increase

With the ongoing Coronavirus concerns, RuPaul's DragCon LA has been nixed.

As per a statement via the convention's website, the cancellation over for the May affair is directly due to the of COVID-19. "The situation in California (and the world) is rapidly changing, with new information coming out everyday," the statement read. "Unfortunately, there's no way for anyone to know what the situation will be like in May. Due to that uncertainty, and out of an abundance of caution, we've decided that it's in the best interest of the talent, staff, and attendees to cancel RuPaul's DragCon LA 2020."

DragCon is expected to return to Los Angeles in 2021 and the organizers behind the event are offering refunds to the fans who bought tickets to this year's event. "We will be working with Eventbrite to issue refunds for existing DragCon LA ticket holders over the next 7 days," the statement continued. "You will receive a confirmation email from Eventbrite when the refund has been issued."

DragCon LA is one of the many festivals to get the axe, including Coachella, UltraFest, South By Southwest and more. Meanwhile, artists aren't taking the risk either as Madonna, Miley Cyrus and Pearl Jam are just a few of the acts to back out of scheduled gigs over the ongoing hysteria.
