BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Bruins are done after falling short in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final to the Blues so, these days, players are reflecting upon their long, emotional run.
Zdeno Chara broke his jaw when he took a puck to the face in Game 4 of the Final, and still managed to return for the last three games of the series.
But, Game 5, that pre-game introduction at home? Chara will never forget that. The ovation from the Garden faithful lasted a solid 25 seconds.
Yesterday, Chara wrote on Instagram that he still hears it and had to fight back tears. Boston's captain thanked fans for their support, and ended his message with, "We will be back."
Chara's on the books for at least one more season. He's due two million dollars next year.
