BROOKLINE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Brookline is putting its faith in teens.
At a special town meeting Thursday night, residents voted 142 to 71 to give 16-year-olds the right to vote in municipal elections, WBZ-TV reports.
The state still would need to approve a Home Rule Petition for the city to officially lower the voting age from 18 to 16.
Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone said his city sent a similar petition to Beacon Hill back in May.
