Celtics' Carsen Edwards Hits Eight 3-Pointers In Third Quarter

Memphis Grizzlies v Boston Celtics

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Larry Bird. Ray Allen. Carsen Edwards.

With an impressive performance in the Celtic's final preseason game, the 21-year-old rookie has already entered the conversation for best perimeter shooter in franchise history.

Edwards hit 9 three-pointers on his way to a game-high 30 points, leading Boston to a 118-95 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He sunk eight of his downtown shots in the third quarter alone - just one shy of the NBA record for most in a quarter, 9, currently held by Golden State's Klay Thompson.

"I've never seen anything like that," coach Brad Stevens said after the game. "He was pretty special."

The Celtics tip off the regular season against the Philadelphia 76ers on October 23rd at 7:30 p.m.
