Four Shootings Seen Overnight In Dorchester

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Police responded to four different shootings — one of which was fatal — in Dorchester Friday night into Saturday morning.

All the shootings occurred over a 10-hour period, according to Boston Police Commissioner William Gross.

Gross said there currently is no evidence to suggest that the four shootings are connected, but it is still an ongoing investigation.

Police say a man suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound on Stratton Street around 11:00 p.m.

Another shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. Saturday near 91 Westview Street, where a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was taken to a hospital where he then died.

A victim was shot around 4 a.m. Saturday on Blue Hill Avenue. He was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, two men began shooting at each other in front of police at the end of the J'Ouvert Parade in Dorchester. Both men have been arrested.

“Certainly when you have four shootings early in the morning, something’s different. We’re going to look into it today. Hopefully we can have peace for the rest of the day,” Boston Mayor Marty Walsh told reporters at an event in Jamaica Plain Saturday.

Police also responded to a stabbing early Saturday morning on Centre Street. Police said a female victim was stabbed in the hand during a domestic dispute. She is expected to be okay.
