Nearly 10,000 Ballots Cast In Boston On First Day Of Early Voting

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Nearly 10,000 registered voters cast their ballots in Boston on the state's first day of early voting.

As of Thursday, Boston had 423,668 registered voters. According to City officials, 9,772 ballots were cast in-person on Saturday, which marked the first of fourteen early-voting days in Massachusetts.

Voters in Boston can choose between ten early voting locations. On Saturday, 2,293 individuals opted to head to the polls at Fenway Park, including Suffolk District Attorney Rachel Rollins.

As of Friday, more than 480,000 state residents had also cast their votes by mail, according to Secretary of the Commonwealth Bill Galvin's office.

Registered voters in the state can still request a mail-in ballot until October 28th at 5 p.m. Voters can return their ballot either by mail, it can be brought to an early-voting site, or it can be dropped in a designated drop-box. Early voting in Massachusetts runs through Friday October 30th.
