NH Authorities Search For Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Child

LONDONDERRY, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Authorities in New Hampshire and along the east coast are on a manhunt for a known firearms enthusiast wanted in a child sex assault case.

Londonderry New Hampshire Police Captain Patrick Cheetham said they have reason to believe 59-year-old Dewey Wambsgans is on the run and headed to South Carolina or Tennessee, where he owns some property.

Cheetham said that while they do not consider him to be a danger to the general public, they have asked that those who do see him to contact authorities immediately.

Wambsgans is wanted on five felony counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of false imprisonment.

Police say he was last seen driving a white 2002 Nissan Xterra SUV with a vanity Tennessee plate CROSWND.
