BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Patriots take on the Giants tonight, and WBZ NewsRadio's Adam Kaufman caught up with Boston Globe NFL reporter Ben Volin to talk about a game that shouldn't be too much trouble for the 5-0 defending Super Bowl champs.

But a few New England players are banged up and, Kaufman said, the Patriots clearly have a dire need for another receiver. Can they be expected to add some more depth?

"The trade deadline is right before Halloween, so they've got two and a half, three weeks now to figure out something," Volin said. "There are going to be a lot of teams that are out of the playoff hunt. Maybe those teams put up their receivers for auction. Maybe someone like Emmanuel Sanders from Denver becomes available, he's the name that a lot of people are talking about. Maybe A.J. Green or Tyler Eiffort in Cincinnati, those are two names that are getting thrown around as well."

With Julian Edelman and Josh Gordon hurt and Phillip Dorsett already out, will Bill Belichick consider sitting any prominent players for a match-up that isn't expected to be much of a challenge?

"I expect Gordon and Edelman and those guys to play, but the guys to watch are Chung and Rex Burkhead, the two guys that sat out of the Washington game," Volin said. "It's tempting to sit them out, because once you get past this game tonight, you've got a nice 11-day break, you don't play again until Monday Night Football against the Jets, so I would expect some caution, but you can't be overly cautious, you still need to win this game and get guys reps, and there's still plenty of time to rest afterward."

Kaufman and Volin also discuss what we can expect from Rob Gronkowski's TV analyst debut, Antonio Brown's Instagram post saying the Pats should re-sign him, the possibility that Jarrett Stidham gets some playing time, and more.
