Severe Thunderstorm Watch For New England

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The National Weather Service Boston has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for parts of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Maine until 8 p.m. Saturday.

According to NWS Boston, starting Saturday mid-afternoon there is the possibility of frequent lightening, scattered wind gusts up to 70 mph, and there may be isolated hail up to ping-pong ball size.

There was also a warning of wind gusts possibly reaching up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail from Worcester to Attleboro until 3:45 p.m. Saturday.

Despite the widespread severe thunderstorm watch, there are still several protests planned on Saturday across the Commonwealth in response to the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, including in Cambridge, Brockton, and at the UMass Boston campus.
