Vandalized Castle Island WII Monuments Starting To Be Cleaned

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) ā€” Monuments that were vandalized with an oily substance are starting to be cleaned. The two monuments are part of the World War II Memorial on Castle Island.

A power washer was used on the monuments that had been covered with a mixture to help clean the granite pieces that had been vandalized.

ā€œAll it is is you mix a powder with this, called marble poultice, with asphalt and tar remover liquid. And then you put an overcoat paper over it,ā€ monument cleaner Ralph Morgan said. ā€œAs it slowly dries, it wicks out the deep-seated oil stain.ā€
