BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) ā€” The Red Sox pummeled the Yankees last night, and Xander Bogaerts was the star.

The problem was, his family missed itā€”they were late to the game.

So, in the eighth inning, with catcher Austin Romine on the mound, the All-Star catcher tried again, and it worked.

"My parents got in, my mom, my uncle, my little league coaches, they got in today, I hit the first one, they weren't here," Bogaerts said. "I saw them arrive, and then I struck out, and I'm like, 'Typical!' But they were there the whole game, I got a couple hits, and then the last at-bat, I saw my mom there and I was like, I'm gonna try. It didn't work out a couple pitches, and I was happy it did."

Bogaerts said he's tried to homer before, and it didn't work out, but it sure did this time.
