John Mayer moved through Columbus, Ohio along "The Search For Everything Tour" on Wednesday night, April 12, and just before the show wound down to its final song Dave Chappelle was introduced onto the stage.
Murphy may have committed nearly 30 years of his life to television and film, but for many, his most memorable work came during his time as a recurring guest on Chappelle's Show. Chappelle and Mayer touched on Murphy's presence and their opportunity to have enjoyed his company, with Mayer citing that he got his favorite phrase ["habitual line-stepper"] off of Murphy.
Dave then brought about a reference to the song "You're Gonna Live Forever In Me," off of Mayer's new album, and requested that Mayer play the tune in dedication to Murphy.
"Rest in peace Charlie Murphy. We love you, we love your comedy, we love your stories and we love your spirit," Dave said before Mayer took it away.
