I know, I know. The Rock has over 85 MILLION Instagram followers so you've probably seen this post he put up today.
But if you don't follow him - you need to.
He put up a post of a Snickers bar and wrote a lengthy story about being evicted with his mom as a kid and making the decision to build his body for his future.
Only problem is he didn't have money to eat so he would steal a King Size Snickers bar every day on the way to the gym. It was moments like this that helped shaped his future as he is now the highest paid actor in Hollywood!
It's a pretty cool story, thanks for starting my Monday off with a bang Rock!
A lil' Monday motivation. This past weekend I finally had some down time to open my birthday gifts and this one given to me by our @sevenbucksprod coordinator Mike Conaboy, stopped me in my tracks with a big laugh - whoa. When I was 14yrs old, while living in Hawaii, me and my mom came home one afternoon to our one bedroom apartment and there was an eviction notice on our door. She cried hard and I made a vow (literally in that moment) that I would work as hard as I could to make sure we were never evicted again. After she went and talked to the landlord, he was merciful enough to give us about 4 more weeks to get our shit together and pay the rent. (He was a good man, his name was Ken and I'll always be grateful for his empathy). I told myself "Im gonna go to the gym every day and build my body because that's what successful men do.. work hard with their own two hands". Well that's a great philosophy for a 14yr old, but one thing I didn't account for was how damn hungry I would be by the time I got to the gym after school around 5pm. So every day I would walk roughly 5 miles to the gym. There was a 7-11 that was at the midway point where I would go in and steal a KING SIZE SNICKERS bar for my pre workout meal. I did this every day for weeks. I couldn't afford buying one, plus I figured if I was gonna get busted for theft, I may as well go for it all and get the king size. We were never able to get our shit together to pay the rent and we were forced to leave the island about four weeks later. Being evicted is hard core and ain't fun, but if you're going thru it, it may trigger something in you, like it did for me. I'm a far cry away from getting evicted these days but I still use my past struggles to motivate me to work even harder. Im sure I need a good psychiatric therapy session or two but always keeping these memories in the forefront of my mind keeps me grounded, focused and reminded that the wolf is always scratching. And heres the most important part of this whole story, a KING SIZE SNICKERS is a damn good pre workout bar, if you can't afford anything else. 😉🤙🏾💪🏾 #MondayMotivation #WolfIsAlwaysScratchin #AndHeAintLookingForSnickers
Just wrapped #ballers and have one week before I start shooting #Rampage, so I had to scoop my lovely ladies up and got away to my farm to recharge, recalibrate and reset. We have an excellent program on our farm (created by my bud and equestrian Olympic athlete Will Coleman) that trains thoroughbreds in Eventing (dressage, stadium jumping and cross country). Every time we come home to Virginia, we always have a whole new gang of some of the best conditioned, beautiful (and bad ass;) horses on the planet. Here Jasper and Zipp are clearly attracted to my alpha musk.. which translates to I haven't showered in 12hrs since I worked out at 4am. #AFewOlCountryBoys #Recharge #ThoroughbredBonding #AlphaMusk #MyFarm ⚓️
