It’s no secret that Michelle Obama is into staying healthy — her main focus as First Lady was to encourage kids to eat well and stay active — but until now we didn’t know exactly how she did it.
Taking to Instagram, Michelle revealed the secret to fitting in a killer workout when you’re as busy as she is — gathering all your friends to sweat it out together.
Michelle revealed she used to host bootcamp weekends, writing that they “were a reminder that if we want to keep taking care of others, we need to take care of ourselves first.”
Now she’s left public office, the former first lady is continuing the tradition. She shared images from a bootcamp she held last weekend, where we can see her holding an enviable plank, as well as doing what looks like crunches, lunges and a variety of stretches.

When I was at the White House, I often hosted bootcamp weekends for my close girlfriends. It didn’t matter that we were all at varying fitness levels. Our bootcamp weekends were a reminder that if we want to keep taking care of others, we need to take care of ourselves first. And even though I’m no longer at the White House, I've continued this tradition and wanted to share some photos. My girlfriends have been there for me through all kinds of life transitions over the years – including a pretty big one recently! – and we’ve done our best to stay healthy together. Whether it’s a bootcamp or a walk around the neighborhood, I hope you and your crew can find some time this summer to be healthy together.
