Golfer Bites Off Finger at Plymouth Golf Course

Doctors were unable to reattach a man's finger after it was bitten off during a golf course brawl. The 57-year old unidentified man was at the Southers Marsh Golf Club in Plymouth when the fight ensued.

There were two groups of foursomes at the 18th hole when the fight broke out. A 46-year old man, Derek Harkins is charged with assault and battery as well as mayhem and disturbing the peace.

It is unclear what exactly caused the fight and whether alcohol was involved.

In Massachusetts, a charge of mayhem means the “malicious intent to maim or disfigure.” The charge carries up to 20 years in prison.
