CHELSEA (WBZ News Radio) - Snow preparations are in full swing ahead of widespread, plowable snowfall likely on the way Friday morning. It won’t be the biggest storm we’ve ever seen, but it will be the first time many of us will need to shovel this year.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Rhode Island and parts of eastern Massachusetts. Between 6 to 8 inches of snow accumulation is expected.

The snow will begin from west to east early on Friday morning between 2 and 5 a.m., moving quickly the ground should be whitened and roads covered by 7 a.m. The heaviest snowfall will occur between 5 and 10 a.m. Friday morning.

At Eastern Salt in Chelsea, it’s all hands on deck as crews prepare to keep roads and highways safe. Cornelius Martin, the Manager of Eastern Salt says today will be a busy day ahead of the snow storm, as they work to fill 400-600 trucks with salt.
