Swedish DJ Avicii Dead At 28

Swedish DJ Avicii, born Tim Bergling, died on Friday (April 20) at the age of 28, as per a statement from his publicist.

"It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii," his publicist Diana Baron said in a statement. "He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given."

No details surrounding his death have been released, but the EDM titan did struggle with addiction in the past. He was hospitalized twice for alcohol-related issues. Still, it's unclear if that had anything to do with his death. Following the sad news, Avicii's manager, Ash Pournouri, took to Instagram to share a black image without any caption, nodding to the untimely announcement.

Avicii was born in Sweden and became one of the biggest DJs in the world, courtesy of his hits, "Levels," "Hey Brothers" and, of course, "Wake Me Up" featuring Aloe Blacc. He was also nominated for two Grammys for Best Dance Recording in 2011 and 2012 for "Levels" and "Sunshine."
