Rob Gronkowski continues to raise the bar. The tight end is already a four-time Super Bowl champion, he’s been named a five-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro. Now, he can add another accomplishment to that list – Guinness World Record holder.
On Friday, during the University of Arizona’s football practice, Gronk set out to catch a football that was dropped from a helicopter 600 feet in the air.
It took Gronk just three tries to accomplish the feat, which he quickly followed up with a “Gronk Spike.”
“Every time you step on the field, you’ve got to raise the bar to another level, baby. And I just raised that bar to this level,” Gronkowski said to the members of his former college football team, after the catch.
The previous record was set by Tyler Toney in 2017, according to the Arizona Daily Star. That catch was made from 563 feet, as part of the “Dude Perfect” YouTube series.
Tedy Bruschi was also in attendance for the record-breaking catch. The two former New England Patriots were visiting their alma mater to serve as opposing honorary coaches in the university’s Spring game last Saturday. Gronk’s team came out on top, 17-13.
