This Is The Best Barbecue Restaurant In Massachusetts

Sure, barbecue is traditionally known to be more of a southern thing, but that doesn’t mean you have to travel south of the Mason-Dixon Line to get some quality “Q.” In fact, the people at lovefood.com say there’s one barbecue restaurant in Massachusetts that smokes the rest.

B.T.’s Smokehouse in Sturbridge, MA was named among the food blog’s list of the best barbecue restaurant in every state.

Here’s what lovefood.com had to say about B.T.’s:

“Growing from a trailer to a shack, B.T.’s Smokehouse is a flourishing Southern-style barbecue joint in tiny, historic Sturbridge. It serves dry rubbed, 14-hour hickory and applewood-smoked meats as plates or stuffed into burritos, reubens and sandwiches. Standouts are the pulled pork, ribs, brisket, cucumber salad, mac ‘n’ cheese and collard greens.”

B.T.’s Smokehouse was founded in 2007. They’re the official BBQ of the Red Sox AAA affiliate Worcester Red Sox, with a concession stand inside Polar Park.

Here’s how B.T. himself, Brian Treitman says he approaches barbecue, according to the restaurant’s website:

“I try to cook my BBQ the way you think BBQ should taste. When you think about a pork rib, in your mind it is tender, succulent, ready to fall off the bone with a little smoke and glazed with a flavorful, spiced, sweet sauce. You want to lick your fingers – no need for a napkin. You want to dip the bone into the drippings that are left and then suck it dry. That’s the way I try to cook.”
