It’s not something you see every day in Worcester – residents captured video of a moose wandering the streets, even surviving a brush with a car, before being brought back to a safer location.
The moose was clipped by a car on May St., before getting up and running off.
"He cracked the windows of the car, and dented the door and made the car, you know, the car almost went off the road," witness Dan Antonucci told WCVB-TV. Antonucci, who is a sanitation worker, spotted the moose while on his trash route Wednesday morning.
"I was trying to get away, because he looked angry, because he was getting aggravated because we were chasing him up and down the street," Douglas Flores told WCVB-TV. Flores was working a road construction job when he saw the moose.
The moose was eventually captured by environmental police in a backyard on King Street. He was tranquilized and safely taken back to a more fitting environment.
The moose may have just been looking for love in all the wrong places. "This is their breeding season, so our speculation is this animal that was in the rut that was looking for a mate and ended up down in the wrong part of the city," Massachusetts Environmental Police Sgt. Bill Woytek told WCVB-TV.
We’re just glad he’s okay and, hopefully, he’ll find his mate soon.
