Nicky Youre "Eyes" Collaboration With Lauv

As the doors open at Kiss 108 Jingle Ball, Nicky Youre drops by our Dunkin Interview Lounge to talk about his new song, potential collaborations, and how life in California.

Before the "Sunroof" singer became a household name, Youre was a self-proclaimed awkward guy.

"I was just about to graduate college when I wrote it."

Youre was working at Dell Technologies when the song took off and his career took a decided turn. Ultimately, the singer left his job to follow his dream of becoming a singer.

Breaking the news to his parents was a little intimidating.

"My dad got me the job," Nicky admits. "My dad worked there."

But his dad had no reservations. "He's always been a big supporter."

"He was just happy for me. So was the manager at the job. She got me a globe and a compass keychain to 'follow my dreams.'"

Youre is already eyeing his next single.

"Eyes On You" is about long distance relationships.

"I went to a Thomas Rhett concert right before I wrote it," Youre shares. "That was my first country concert. I remember thinking that it was the most fun concert ever, so I wanted to try and capture that in that song."

"Eyes On You" is Youre's "attempt at a pop country inspired song."

The Kiss 108 Jingle Ball is packed with some of the hottest artists – The Kid Laroi, Demi Lovato, Tate McRae, just to name a few. With so many artists in one location, many find it the perfect opportunity to meet their next collaborator.

But Youre has other priorities.

"I am trying to meet as many of them as I can and say 'what's up,'" Youre tells Billy backstage.

"I've met a bunch of them and I would love to make music with all of them, but the goal is just becoming friends first."

One artist, however, immediately jumped out as a dream collaborator.

"I'm a big fan of Lauv. He's someone I looked up to a ton when I was first starting to make music."

Could we see a collaboration between Youre and Lauv on the horizon? We can only hope!
