Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade Route Shortened

Officials for Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade are cutting down the route due to snow and ice conditions.

The decision, which was reached at a meeting Thursday evening, will limit the parade to a march from West Broadway to East Broadway.

A similar change was made in 2015 because of record-setting snowfall. Last year, the city tried to enforce a similar route, but a judge denied the effort.

This year’s original parade plan was already a quarter-mile shorter than previous years, ending at Old Colony Avenue, instead of Andrew Square.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
