Things just got super awkward for Kevin James. Now that season one of “Kevin Can Wait” is over, he will be swapping co-stars, as show wife Erinn Hayes is leaving.
After a two-episode appearance as James’ police partner at the end of season one, his former “King of Queens” wife Leah Remini will be the new lead actress on the show.
Changes do not appear to be in response to the ratings. According to Deadline, the show was this season’s number one new comedy with 9.19 million viewers.
Hayes acknowledged the news, but did not offer any reasons for the change:
Sources told Variety that the change was less about Hayes and more about the show going in a different direction.
