Here's a thought, don't rob a Dunkin while the man in front of you is a police officer making a coffee run. From Boston PD:
At about 1:15 AM on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, an officer from District B-2 (Roxbury) on a coffee run for his fellow officers working back at the station entered the Dunkin Donuts in Andrew Square. While placing his order, the officer observed a male walk in and request to use the restroom. The employee behind the counter politely told the male that they did not have a public restroom but there may be one at nearby South Bay Plaza he could use.
Meanwhile, the officer, in full uniform, collected his order and walked to his marked cruiser that he had parked in the rear lot. As the officer approached the car, a Dunks employee burst through the rear door, exclaiming in fear, “He’s robbing us! He’s robbing us!” The officer instinctively sprang into action (so quickly and with such abandon, in fact, that he dropped the coffee on the ground!) and responded to the front entrance.
The officer took up a tactical position and maintained a visual on the suspect as the suspect picked up a brown paper bag and headed to the exit. The suspect walked out the door only to be greeted by the officer as he emerged from the doorway. Once outside, the suspect dropped the paper bag, and the officer placed the suspect into custody without further incident. The officer recovered the paper bag and the several hundred dollars of stolen US currency inside. The officer arrested 51-year-old Stephen M. White of Boston and charged him with Unarmed Robbery and Threats to do Bodily Harm.
And don’t worry—as a sign of appreciation, the grateful DD employees replaced the officers’ spilled coffee!
