Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has revealed that Justin Timberlake is the mystery ’pop star’ collaborator featured on the Foo Fighters’ upcoming album Concrete and Gold.

Grohl talked about their experience in Rolling Stone’s latest cover profile, saying that Timberlake would hang out with the band during downtime between recording sessions in LA.

"We'd drink whiskey in the parking lot," said Grohl. "He was really, really cool. Then the night before his last day, he says, 'Can I sing on your record? I don't want to push it, but – I just want to be able to tell my friends.'"

Although Timberlake’s contribution was a modest “la la la” vocal on one song, Grohl tells Rolling Stone that he ‘nailed’ it. "I'm telling you, the guy's going somewhere," Grohl joked.

Grohl first teased the collaboration in June, saying that the world’s “biggest pop star” sang backup on one of the album’s “heaviest” songs.

The album is due out on September 15th.
