Bald really is beautiful, according to the findings of a new study out of the University of Pennsylvania.
The study involved three tests, given to students on the college campus. Male and female students were asked to rate photos of men, according to attractiveness, confidence and dominance. Some of the photos in the study were digitally doctored, so that there were photos of the same men with and without hair.
According to researchers, bald men won favor in all three categories. Beyond those findings, the study also says that men who willingly shave their heads are more appealing because they’ve gone against the traditional hair norms.
“Choosing to dispense with one’s hair is arguably a form of nonverbal behavior, a form of expression which communicates information about the self otherwise difficult to observe,” researchers said.
Findings also suggest that bald men, perceived as more dominant, will do better in business.
