Rain From Jose Impacts New England Starting Tuesday

Jose is approaching New England as a category 1 hurricane, prompting tropical storm warnings in southern New England.

As of 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jose was centered 365 miles south of Nantucket, moving north at 9 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 75 miles per hour.

A tropical storm warning has been issued from Watch Hill, Rhode Island to Hull, Massachusetts, including the Cape and Islands.

By Tuesday evening, the outer Cape and Nantucket could see wind gusts between 40-60 miles per hour, with speeds of 35-50 miles per hour possible along other coastal areas. The Boston area could see winds of 20-40 miles per hour.

Nantucket could receive 4.8 inches of rainfall. 3 inches of rainfall is possible on the Cape. Boston could receive just over an inch of rainfall.
