BOSTON, MA(WBZ-AM) — A Dracut Doctor is the first in Massachusetts to be charged with manslaughter, for prescribing opioids to a high addiction risk patient, who overdosed.

Prosecutors say Dr. Richard Miron knew that man's history. The medical examiner says he died from the combined effects of a number of drugs, all prescribed by Miron.

The attorney general's office began investigating after Miron was allegedly found to be the state's largest provider of high dose oxycodone prescriptions among mass health providers.
