One week into the new year, it’s being reported that another major retailer is closing multiple locations, including one in Massachusetts.
USA Today is reporting that Macy’s is closing at least 28 stores in the next couple months and one Bloomingdale’s location. Among the locations being reported is the store at the Mall at Whitney Field in Leominster. A clearance sale is expected to begin in January and run 8-12 weeks.
Corporate officials would not confirm how many stores would be closing.
"We regularly review our store portfolio and will provide an update at our Investor Day on February 5th," the company said in a statement sent to USA Today.
On Monday, Pier 1 Imports announced plans to close up to 450 locations.
