Amanda Bynes Splits With Fiance Paul Michael 3 Weeks After Engagement

Amanda Bynes and her fiance Paul Michael have called it quits.

Three weeks after announcing her engagement on social media, the Nickelodeon star and her 28-year-old “lover” have decided to end their relationship. “We did,” Michael confirmed to In Touch on Sunday (March 8), according to Us Weekly. Despite the split, he maintained, “I love her though, she’s my best friend.”

The 33-year-old retired actress first revealed she and Michael, whom she met at a sober living house in late-2019, became engaged on Valentine’s Day (February 14). “Engaged to tha love of my life,” the She’s the Man star captioned the celebratory photo before making things even more official with her sweetheart in a series of selfies on Instagram — all of which have since been deleted from Bynes’ feed.

It’s a strange turn of events for the star, who seemed to be in happier spirits with her fiance. “Hey, everyone, this is Paul, my fiancé,” Bynes had told fans in a now-deleted clip. “I’m so lucky. As you can see, he’s drop-dead gorgeous. He’s also the best person on the face of the Earth.”

Despite how happy Bynes appeared to be in her relationship, she reportedly failed to introduce her parents to her other half. Her mother, Lynn, who also serves as the child star’s conservator, was blindsided by the news as well. When Bynes shared a video clip informing fans of her plans to challenge the terms of her conservatorship — which involves $5,200 mental health treatments — that could bar her from marrying, a source told Us Weekly, “Lynn feels Amanda isn’t in any capacity to make any decisions about her care or treatment. Lynn will request that Amanda remain in a controlled environment.”

On February 22, Bynes, who recently celebrated her first year of sobriety, said she would “see the judge” the following week about her conservatorship case. Given her breakup and newly-scrubbed Instagram feed, it would appear things did not end in her favor.
